Bible Verses

Genesis 1:14a “And God said, Let there be light-bearers in the expanse of heaven to separate the day from the night.”

Psalm 8:3 “When I see Your heavens, the works of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained.”

Lesson Ideas

  • Ask the children what they do in the day time and what they do in the night time. Have them draw their activities out and cut them in to cards. Then mix the cards they have made into a pile and have them flip them over one at a time and organise them according to what time of day they do that activity.

  • Discuss the terms “light-bearers” and “expanse of heaven” from the verse in Genesis 1:14a, learn the verse together.

  • Impress the children how wise God is when He made the stars. He did it so that people can navigate on the ocean. Show them how they were able to do that.

  • You can make a constellation with black paper and star stickers. Or you can use a pin to punch holes in the black paper and hold it up to a light to make it look like stars.
